You place three or four control points on the map and on an OpenStreetMap background; GDAL derives the transform and reports its error in metres. Detection then recovers the objects by their colour — sites, coverage areas, fibre routes — and you draw in by hand whatever the colour missed.

Hundreds of pages of deeds, pleadings and scanned contracts that full-text search cannot see. The module makes them readable without touching the page: an invisible text layer is laid over it, word by word, and Ctrl+F lands on the right spot in the scan. It picks out the dates, the amounts and the schedule of exhibits; and whatever you ask it to redact leaves the file, instead of being covered with a rectangle.

Your scanned documents, read and checked. The module finds each one — even when a page carries two, which every photocopied stack of receipts does — sets sheets fed in upside down back on their feet, and picks out the supplier, the date, the subtotal, the taxes and the total. Then it redoes the arithmetic: whatever fails to add up arrives flagged with its discrepancy, rather than buried in an export.

What is PDFactory?
PDFactory is an online service that makes usable what a PDF merely displays. Three workshops: a map becomes a GIS file, a scanned case file becomes searchable, a batch of receipts becomes a table of checked entries. Nothing to install, no account to create.
Do I need an account?
No. We ask for no name, no email address and no password. A working folder is identified by a number drawn at random, and nothing in our databases ties that number to a person.
How long do my files stay on the server?
Two hours after your last action, not after the upload: a working session is never cut short, however long it runs, but a tab closed by accident stops existing. Every workshop also carries a button that deletes everything immediately.
Are my documents sent to an artificial intelligence service?
No. Conversion, character recognition, detection and arithmetic all run on our own servers, in Frankfurt. No third-party model is called, and nothing you upload trains a model.
Which files does PDFactory accept?
PDF, PNG, JPEG and TIFF, 50 MB per file at most. A multi-page PDF is read in one go: up to 500 pages for a legal case file, 200 for an accounting batch.
Is the service GDPR-compliant?
Files are processed in Frankfurt, so under the GDPR and under Germany's own federal act, the BDSG, whose supervisory authorities are among the strictest in Europe. Your files do not leave this server, and the privacy page describes each setting rather than an intention.
